There are different ways to approach Medicare, depending on your healthcare needs and preferences. You can choose Original Medicare with the option to add a Medigap plan and a Prescription Drug Plan, or you can opt for a Medicare Advantage plan, which combines Medicare Parts A and B and often includes additional benefits. Each option offers a unique way to manage your healthcare coverage.
Original Medicare includes Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance); however, it doesn’t cover everything, such as some out-of-pocket costs and prescription drugs. To fill these gaps, you can add a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan to help pay for extra costs and a Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) to cover medications. These additions provide more complete coverage.
Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, is an alternative to Original Medicare that combines Part A and Part B coverage into one plan offered by private insurers. These plans often include additional benefits, like vision, dental, and hearing coverage, as well as prescription drug coverage (Part D).
